The Poker Career of Jennifer Leigh

Female poker professional Jennifer Leigh learned about poker differently as compared with other poker professionals. She claims that she did not learn poker from anybody else but herself. Because of the fact that she has always been addicted to computers and video games, it became easy for her to learn how to play online poker. And that was the start of her career in the poker industry.

Born in Wilmington, Delaware on August 10, 1983, Jennifer Leigh augmented her poker skills not just by merely participating in online poker tournaments, but also by reading books about poker until she gained adequate knowledge about it. After one year of playing online poker, Jennifer Leigh started to be recognized as the highest earning female poker professional to participate in online games.

Jennifer Leigh is also known as "Jennicide" because it is the name she uses when she plays online poker. When she started participating in online poker events, this female poker professional used to play US$5 SNG tournaments until she augmented her play to US$100/US$200 Limit Hold'em cash games. This female poker professional also experienced finishing in the money in a US$1,000 Limit Hold'em game conducted at the World Championship of Online Poker tournament. She is also very popularly known as "Jennicide" on the Web site www.pokerstars.com, where she plays on a regularly basis.

But of course, Jennifer Leigh would not be very popular now had it not been because of her emergence in live poker tournaments. She started to participate in live poker events in July 2005, when she played at the Poker Royale: Battle of the Ages tournament. In this tournament, this female poker professional had the opportunity to compete against poker giants, including Miami John Cernuto and Dan Harrington. This female poker professional succeeded in her participation in the said tournament by placing fifth in the grand finals.

Jennifer Leigh also participated in the Caribbean Poker Adventure of the World Poker Tour on January 10, 2006, wherein she had a money finish. This female poker professional ended in forty-second place and won US$13,500. The second time she participated in a World Poker Tour event was on August 30, 2006, in which she placed forty-fifth and won US$15,530.

On July 23, 2006, Jennifer Leigh played a No Limit Hold'em game of the World Series of Poker and ended 18th place. She was able to win US$16,382.

The poker professionals that Jennifer Leigh idolizes include Phil Ivey, Ted Forrest, and Jennifer Harman. She has had romantic relationships with several poker professional players before but she still finds it hard to be romantically involved while focusing on her career in poker.

This female poker professional also says that if only she had the power, she would want to encourage more young women to get involved with playing poker.
